News! Big Lottery Fund launches small grants programme for Shirebrook Wards

On 10 January the Big Lottery Fund launched Ideas Into Action,  a pilot programme designed to see if, with small amounts of money they can support people to start working together on ideas that would benefit their whole community. Big Lottery also want their ideas to make a difference now and in the future.

Lottery grants of between £100-£500 are available for six weeks for residents in Shirebrook. (These areas are the electoral wards of Shirebrook East, Shirebrook Langwith, Shirebrook North West, Shirebrook South East and Shirebrook South West. In order to make it easy for people to check their eligibility BIG have set up an online checker: www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/ideasintoaction)

The programme is for those who already know what they want to do and could put their idea into action if they had access to a small amount of money.

The Big Lottery Fund is launching the programme with a delivery of leaflets to every eligible household and are working with partners in the local Community and Voluntary services to promote the programme.

BIG would especially like to see applications from people who have not applied for grants before. The grants are available to small informal groups of at least three unrelated people living in the eligible areas.

It’s really easy to apply! All residents will have to do is call Big Lottery Fund on 0845 4 10 20 30 to make a telephone appointment to talk about their idea. The appointment will last about half an hour, giving them the chance to tell BIG exactly what their idea is and for them to gather all the information needed to make a decision.
