Derbyshire Recovery and Peer Support Service 

Cafe 101 is based in Shirebrook

A new peer support group for anybody aged 17+ with a mental health concern to meet with like-minded people in a friendly and supportive environment. 

We aim to offer peer to peer support that helps to support you, as you work towards your own individual maintenance and recovery aims and levels. 

We are looking to hear from anyone who is interested in helping with set up, or who might benefit from this type of peer led, voluntary run support group.

News! Rhubarb Farm Needs Your Vote

Rhubarb Farm have been selected as finalists for 'The People's Projects' which, if they win, they would be able to get some of their volunteers/service users back into regular work through setting up a Garden Maintenance Team. 

As the only Derbyshire based project we strongly encourage you to vote for them and encourage others to do the same! Voting is now open and you will need to choose Rhubarb Farm and confirm your vote via email. 

This needs to be done by 12pm on the 15th April 2019!

News! Bolsover Good Neighbours Befriending

Community Action Bolsover are looking for volunteers and people who would benefit from having a befriender.

Befriendee - someone that has been befriended by another person because they are in need of help or support.

Befriender/Befriending - act as or become a friend to (someone). especially when they are in need of help or support.

Are you someone or do you know of someone that is feeling lonely, socially isolated, has no one to talk to or express themselves to? If you or someone you know could benefit from being befriended by one of our volunteers, then please contact the Volunteer Centre Bolsover for more information. 

Volunteering

Could you spare a couple of hours a week to help someone that may be house bound, socially isolated, lonely and in need of someone to chat with on the phone or face to face?

You need to be a good listener, patient and of a caring disposition.

Job details and requirements

The health and well being team are responsible for increasing health and well being to all residents of North East Derbyshire. The service requires an enthusiastic and motivated individual, committed to excellence in their work with a passion for Community Development. 

The successful candidate will work at the heart of identified local communities promoting and further establishing  the Walking for Health programme. Develop community programmes in Clay Cross that support the inactive to become more active and tackle social isolation in the community. Recruit and retain physical activity champions. Work with key stakeholders in the local community to take a partnership approach to your work. 

The successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check carried out by DBS at the enhanced level.

People from across Derbyshire with a long-term health condition are substantially benefiting from our courses which are supporting and encouraging participants to self-manage their conditions more effectively to live fuller and more meaningful lives. 

We have courses starting in April in Ripley and Long Eaton.

News! Invitation to Tour Rhubarb Farm

If you have not yet visited Rhubarb Farm, and would like to learn more about the work that they do, then why not join them for a Tour on Thursday 28th February at 10:30am. 

You will get to see all the facilities, meet the staff and volunteers who are on site and hear about their journeys, learn about the work, projects and activities on the farm. You will have the opportunity to buy eggs, seasonal veg and plants like rhubarb, gooseberries, herbs and others. 

The tour will be followed by tea and cakes for a donation to the Farm. 

No booking is required, just turn up 15 minutes before the start of the tour. 

*Come in stout shoes and warm clothes as the site is exposed and can be cold and muddy

News! Rhubarb Farm's Surprise Gift...

Rhubarb Farm has had a surprise gift...

A brand new Vauxhall 17 Seater minibus worth £26,000!

This was donated through a procurement company called Efficiency East Midlands (EEM) of Alfreton, which runs an awards evening called Building Communities for the construction and social housing sector.

EEM distributes surplus profit to community organisations and encourages its members - companies, local authorities and housing associations - to also contribute. The minibus has been funded by 20 companies mobilised by EEM to top up their own contribution, plus a deal done with Vauxhall. 

At the awards evening they also added a personalised number plate and branding on the side of the minibus. This surprise is a huge boost for Rhubarb Farm, which transports volunteers from across North East Derbyshire and North West Nottinghamshire to the farm to help them improve their lives and contribute to community well-being.
