In October 2019, 19 students from four schools: Frederick Gent, Shirebrook Academy, Stubbin Wood and Tibshelf Community School, represented Bolsover district and completed a life changing expedition to South Africa.

During their 12 day expedition the students;

• Delivered first aid training to the local school and community
• Left a legacy by planting 12 fruit trees at the local orphanage 
• Worked alongside ecologists and studied the declining giraffe population
• Conducted a environmental impact study
